What does a costume designer do?

Costume Designers conceptualize, source, and create all the costumes needed for a production. I’ve designed costumes for operas, plays, television shows, films, commercials, music videos, and special events. I’ve also been hired to create one-off costumes for private collections, and custom garments for select clients.

Do you still design costumes?

I do! However, I am very selective of the projects I take on. Please contact me and let me know the details of your project.

What kinds of stories do you write?

I am primarily a fantasy writer. Right now my focus is writing books for children, which spans picture books, middle grade, and young adult. In these stories children are the heroes, although they do have to make tough choices and are often in peril. Still, they come through at the end. Much better than any adult would, anyhow.

Have you written any books?

Why yes, yes I have! I currently have a MG manuscript on submission to agents, and another in revisions. One is a historical fantasy about a boy who faces cosmic horrors while hunting for a lost artifact (Indiana Jones meets A Wrinkle in Time). The other is about a girl who must find a lost treasure, with help from a ghost (Goonies meets City of Ghosts).

Do you have an agent?

I am currently seeking representation.

Who are your favorite authors?

I’m so glad you asked! I’m an avid reader, and have fallen in love with so many books. I’d recommend anything written by Laini Taylor, VE Schwab, Grace Lin, Angie Thomas, Kelly Barnhill, Naomi Novik, Jonathan Auxier, Megan Whalen Turner, Jacqueline Woodson, Robin Stevens, Elizabeth E. Wein, Jonathan Stroud, Becky Albertalli, Raina Telgemeier, PG Wodehouse, and Terry Pratchett.
